1. Bronze Doors As
you approached the Cathedral stairs from State Street, you undoubtedly noted the dramatic
Cathedral doors. These enormous bronze doors are activated by a finger-touch hydraulic
system. Each door weighs 1,200 pounds. Once inside, you may have noticed the door design
is reflected in the bronze-and-glass screen between the vestibule and the nave of the
church. These designs are representative of the Tree of Life. Both doors and screen were
designed by Albert J. Friscia. |
